CODE OF CONDUCT
The foundation of our Code of Conduct can be found in the three Rs:
* Respect Yourself
* Respect others & their Property
* Respect the Environment
At South Rutland Elementary School, students are expected to behave according to the Code of Conduct so that everyone can work and learn in a safe, happy and orderly environment. This atmosphere helps everyone to experience success!
Students in all grades who do their best are recognized for their positive efforts in class--weekly "Rockin' Rockets" Awards are presented to deserving students. During the lunch break, Student Supervisors will give out Rockets Raffle Tickets to students who are playing responsibly. These tickets will be entered in a monthly draw for small prizes. Grade 4, 5 & 6 students can also earn Work Ethic and Citizenship awards throughout the school year. South Rutland Elementary School students are focussed on "Rocketing To Excellence"!
Students who interfere with learning and teaching or who make the playground unsafe for others will be disciplined. When students behave unacceptably, they will be involved in a discipline process that emphasizes consistent and fair consequences and open communication with parents. Consequences will increase for repeated offences. Please see our revised Code of Conduct (click on the link below) for more information. Staff, parents and students were involved in updating this important document during the fall of 2008.
